Response to the Climate Emergency
Colleges are playing a key role in addressing the climate emergency and helping Scotland achieve its net-zero ambitions.
Scotland requires skilled workers to build and maintain onshore and offshore wind farms, service electric vehicles, install domestic and industrial heat pumps and solar systems, and adapt to the significant changes brought by emerging technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The college sector is working closely with employers to provide the world-class skills, upskilling, and reskilling necessary now and in the future, as lifelong learning becomes essential for every citizen. Colleges are training individuals in fields ranging from offshore wind farms to electric vehicles and ensuring that sustainability is embedded into mainstream courses through providing environmental awareness elements.
