Responding to the UK Government's Autumn Budget, announced today (Wednesday, 30 October 2024), Dr Graeme Jackson, Chief Executive of Colleges Scotland, said:

"Last week, I listened to the First Minister of Scotland emphasise the critical need for increased investment in public services and infrastructure, particularly highlighting the role of colleges in equipping the workforce with essential skills to drive Scotland's economic recovery.

"Today, the UK Chancellor announced further funding in these crucial areas as part of the UK Budget. We now look forward to collaborating closely with the Scottish Government to ensure this commitment to infrastructure and skills development translates into full funding for Scotland’s colleges. Such support will empower colleges to deliver the impactful results needed to drive success and economic growth as we approach the draft budget announcement in December."
