Response to Hayward Review
The final report of the Independent Review of Qualifications and Assessment was published today. The report, authored by Professor Louise Hayward, sets out a number of key recommendations for the Scottish Government on the qualifications system in Scotland and how it can best support learners in schools and colleges.
Shona Struthers, Chief Executive of Colleges Scotland, said:
“This is a significant report with a number of substantive proposals regarding the future delivery of assessment and qualifications in Scotland including those provided in Scotland’s 26 colleges.
‘We are taking a keen interest in the recommendations of the review including the proposals for a new Scottish Diploma of Achievement and a Digital Profile for learners and are looking forward to further discussions with the Scottish Government to understand how the recommendations can be implemented in the college sector.
“Today’s publication is one of a number of substantive reviews that have been published as part of the Education reform agenda. The college sector now requires an overarching narrative to bring the collective outputs of these reviews together and we look forward to receiving an update on the Scottish Government’s Purpose and Principles work next week.”
