Comment on SFC's College Student Outcomes Report

Commenting on the latest College Student Outcomes Report published by the Scottish Funding Council today (Wednesday 27 May 2026), a spokesperson for Colleges Scotland said:

“These figures show encouraging progress across Scotland’s colleges. It is especially positive to see more students successfully completing their courses – this rise reflects the hard work and commitment of students, lecturers and professional services staff across the college sector.

“The reduction in early withdrawal rates for full-time students is also welcome, although the slight increase among part-time learners highlights the pressures many students continue to face in balancing study alongside work and caring responsibilities.

“Colleges play a vital role in supporting learners from all backgrounds, are strong community anchors, and are Scotland’s skills engines. While the overall direction of travel is positive the figures also underline the importance of sustained investment into Scotland’s colleges so that learners can be supported to succeed.”
