Colleges Scotland Welcomes Offshore Wind Skills Plan

Colleges Scotland has welcomed the Scottish Government’s announcement to develop a future offshore wind workforce, reinforcing the critical role colleges will play in delivering the skills needed for Scotland’s transition to a net zero economy.

The Offshore Wind Skills Action Plan builds on the many months of work driving forward the college sector’s Offshore Wind Skills Programme which began earlier this year. This collaborative effort has involved colleges working with sector partners, government officials and the renewables sector to create a skills programme to ensure a pipeline of college-trained workers are ready to support the offshore wind sector.

Gavin Donoghue, Chief Executive of Colleges Scotland said:

“The Offshore Wind Skills Action Plan recognises and highlights the critical role of colleges across Scotland in delivering the technical training and flexible learning pathways required to meet industry demand.

“Colleges are the skills engines of our regional economies and are already working closely with employers to ensure their education and skills training is providing an industry-ready workforce for the offshore wind sector.”
