Learners Encouraged to Choose College on Exam Results Day

With thousands of people across Scotland receiving their exam results today (Tuesday 5 August 2025), Colleges Scotland is encouraging them to choose college as their next step.

Gavin Donoghue, CEO of Colleges Scotland, said:

“Congratulations to everyone receiving their exam results today, which I’m sure reflect many months of dedication, preparation, and hard work.

“Colleges across Scotland are ready to welcome new students for the upcoming academic year, and I would encourage everyone receiving their results today to get in touch with their local college to find out more about the great courses on offer.

“Every year around 218,000 people choose to study at college, gaining valuable qualifications and developing practical skills that lead great jobs and long-term career success. College graduates are equipped with the skills that employers are actively seeking – particularly in high-demand sectors like the green economy, cyber security, and hospitality and tourism.

“There’s a very wide range of courses and qualifications to choose from. Learning at college is diverse and hands-on, ranging from TV studios and laboratories to workshops, kitchens, and dental training facilities. Colleges also provide robust support services, including financial and health support and advice.

“I would urge everyone to choose college as a positive next step in shaping their future.”
