Gavin Donoghue Biography
Gavin Donoghue is the Chief Executive Officer of Colleges Scotland, the national membership and advocacy organisation representing all 24 further education colleges across Scotland. Appointed in June 2025, Gavin brings a wealth of experience in education, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
Prior to this role, he served as Director of College Employers Scotland, where he led the implementation of National Bargaining across the sector. His earlier roles include Deputy Director of Stakeholder Relations at the University of Edinburgh, and Acting Director of Communications at Scottish Renewables, where he also served as Public Affairs Manager.
Gavin is passionate about the transformative role of colleges in Scotland’s economy and society. He champions their work as “skills engines” that unlock potential, tackle poverty, and support regional economic growth. Under his leadership, Colleges Scotland continues to advocate for greater autonomy and flexibility for colleges, ensuring they remain responsive to the needs of learners, communities, and employers.
